About
Umer Sagheer, full-stack developer in Lahore, Pakistan
StackReact · Next.js · Expo · Node.js · NestJS · PostgreSQL · AI
I’m Umer, a full-stack engineer in Lahore. I learned to build software the slow way, from documentation and Stack Overflow threads, before AI could write a line of it. That habit of understanding how things work underneath is what I lean on now that I build AI into products.
For four years I’ve taken products from the first tap to the database and out to the stores: a restaurant system that keeps taking orders when the internet drops, an AI writing coach used by more than 7,000 people across 30 to 40 institutions, and two apps on the App Store and Google Play.
01 · How I work
What I bring
I ship whole products
The screen, the API, the database and the deploy. Munshi runs a restaurant end to end, and I’m the only engineer behind it.
I make AI earn its place
Models make things up, so I check their output against real data before anyone sees it. That’s how Engagemo stopped telling students off for mistakes they had already fixed.
I care about the screen you touch
Motion that explains what changed, layouts that don’t jump, and apps that feel at home on both stores.
Fundamentals first
I’d rather understand a tool than memorise it, and I write it down so others can too.
02 · How I build
From a tap to a reply
Every product I build follows this path. The tools change with the problem; the thinking doesn’t.
Where the tap happens: web and mobile from one way of building.
- Accessible components on theme tokens, from the web to Expo.
- Motion with purpose; reduced motion respected.
with React · Expo · Next.js · Tailwind
Keeps the screen fast and honest: cached server data, small client stores, validated forms.
- Query-key factories, one hook per resource; mutations invalidate by key.
- Typed services over one Axios client with silent token refresh.
- Small Zustand stores; server data never goes in a store.
- A Zod schema per form, with errors inline.
with React Query · Axios · Zustand · React Hook Form · Zod
Checks every request at the door, owns the business logic, and hands slow work to queues.
- Thin routes; services own the logic; one central error handler.
- Slow work on queues, progress over sockets, retries that never double.
- NestJS microservices, including one that talks to industrial sensors.
with Node.js · NestJS · Express · Socket.IO · BullMQ
exploring: event streaming
Retrieve, prompt, check, remember: AI inside the product, not a chat box beside it.
- Retrieval (RAG) over a product's own content.
- Multi-step model calls orchestrated with LangGraph.
- Guardrails: model output checked against real data before anyone sees it.
- Conversation memory, so context carries across sessions.
with LangChain · OpenAI · LangGraph
exploring: agent workflows, evals
Where the truth lives, shaped by the questions the product asks most.
- Schema-first models with versioned migrations.
- Redis for queues, locks and caches.
with PostgreSQL · MongoDB · Prisma · Redis
exploring: indexing strategy, query plans
Build, test, deploy: to Railway, AWS, the App Store and Google Play.
- Docker locally; Railway and AWS in production; EAS builds and over-the-air updates.
- Vitest suites, Sentry and structured logs.

03 · Journey
How I got here
- 2021
Started a BS in Computer Science at Government College University, Lahore.
- 2022
First job, at TechGoat IT Solutions, while still studying: REST APIs for logistics, education and booking platforms, a logistics dashboard built on heavy reporting queries, and a PHP backend moved to Node.js.
- 2024
A contract at Rhodium Tech: Adopt 2 Educate, a platform that connects donors to students, on NestJS, React and React Native.
- 2025
Joined Softaims as a full-stack engineer. Led Engagemo, shipped NourishWise to both stores, started Munshi, and graduated.
- 2026
Shipped Meridian Profits to both stores, took on a contract building NestJS microservices for an industrial automation client, and kept growing Munshi.
04 · Now
What I’m on these days
- Building
- Munshi’s next product, grocery management, and, for an industrial automation client, NestJS microservices that read sensors over OPC UA.
- Learning
- Agent workflows and how to evaluate them, event streaming, and reading query plans properly.
05 · Off the clock
Away from the screen
Off the clock, I’m usually out finding a new food spot in Lahore, or playing table tennis or badminton. I’ll happily take a recommendation for either.
